About

Village Book Builders is an award-winning non-profit that helps children open their minds to a whole world of possibilities through learning and global mentorship with the goal of increasing graduation rates and opportunities in the community. Local leaders are required to collaborate and apply to be a part of Village Book Builders’ program. The charity then works closely with local leaders throughout the entire process to ensure the long-term success and maintenance of the library.

The library funded by the Heart & Solle Foundation is located in the rural, mountainous city of Ixhuatlan del Cafe, MX and was officially opened to the community in the spring of 2022. The library is fully-stocked with computers, books, furniture and locally-inspired murals and decorations and now serves over 250 local school children, in addition to the larger community.

While this library is available to all community members, it was strategically built near the village school and is managed by local school leadership in order to allow for the greatest convenience and access to library resources for the students and teachers.
